*Name/Alias: Dirge
*Your Journal: N/A
*Age: 27
*Contact Information: Sixthclone on Aim
*Characters already in the game: IDW Pharma
Character Information
*Character Name: Breakdown
*Character Canon: Transformers Prime
*Age: Really old- Transformers live a long time. But he’s not actually considered old for his race.
*Race: Cybertronian
*Timeline/Pull Point: (Please give as much context as possible, such as including a short summary in addition to the episode number.)
*History: http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Breakdown_%28Prime%29
*Personality: As his name implies, Breakdown really enjoys breaking things. It’s a simple thrill and something that he just happens to be good at. He does not resent being employed as the muscle by both Knock Out and Megatron and will happily head into hand to hand combat with whomever he’s pointed at. He’s got a big, strong chassis and the ability to form hammers with his hands- so why not? He’s the weird guy at the gym that’s laughing really loud while he does reps with the heaviest pair of weights they have available.
Breakdown has very simple goals in life. He has no designs on climbing the Decepticon hierarchy, content with following a leader or even just his partner. As long as he has the basic amenities and enemies to fight, Breakdown is happy to serve. That doesn’t mean he doesn’t get into a bit of mischief every once in a while- but it’s usually Knock Out’s idea and nothing permanently damaging to his status. Sometimes you just gotta go racing, even if your superior officer frowns upon it.
That said, Breakdown takes failure pretty seriously. As well he should- considering screwing up in the Decepticon army usually means death. Breakdown considers himself good at his job and dislikes disappointing his superiors by botching a mission. He’s not any good at talking his way out of punishment so the best thing he can do to avoid the brig- or worse- is not mess up in the first place. Hopefully most of his missions are more on the crushing stuff end and less on the stealth and delicate retrievals end. Please?
It is hard to fully describe Breakdown without including his relationship with his partner, Knock Out. From the ease of the way they work together, it seems as though they’ve known each other for a long time. The brains and brawn team up might be a bit cliché, but it works and they’ve survived quite a few battles by taking each other’s cues in a fight and coming to quick decisions on whether to stick around or run away. Breakdown doesn’t seem to resent taking orders from Knock Out, especially because most of them involve giving the okay to pound someone’s face in. All in all, for a decepticon, Breakdown is pretty good at team work. Go figure.
Even stranger for a decepticon- based off of the ones we’ve seen so far in Prime- Breakdown actually seems to enjoy some camaraderie with his fellow soldiers. Despite being higher in rank than the vehicons, he doesn’t talk down to them and even goes so far as to compliment them for doing their jobs. Breakdown doesn’t really have the mind set for being a superior officer, he acts like a grunt and therefore can sympathize with them. Not that he would take a bullet for one. It’s hard to care THAT much and not be an Autobot.
*Powers/Abilities: Breakdown can transform into a heavy car that resembles an SUV. He has a laser cannon on one shoulder and both of his hands can change into hammers.
*Inventory: Nothing but himself!
*Starting Polarity: Solus?
Writing Samples
*First Person Sample:
[Breakdown is peering down at the communicator on his wrist. In one hand he appears to be holding a very distressed cow. Upside-down.]
I got what you asked for. It’s making some really strange noises. [He shakes the cow a little and it moos desperately.] Like that. You sure it’s not broken?
What? No, uh… if I put it down it’s gonna wander away.
[Pause] Oh. Got it. [Breakdown kneels and starts attempting to attach the yoke to the cow. This ends badly- with the wood splitting and the cow fleeing in terror. ]
[Sigh] ….I ain’t got fingers small enough for this.
*Third Person Sample:
Breakdown stared out across the rolling plains, his sensors sweeping the area in search of the resource Soundwave had sent him to collect. He wasn’t exactly clear on why he was being asked to bring back several of the four legged creatures that only seemed to produce annoying noises and foul smells. But Soundwave did outrank him and he was reportedly rather clever, so he must have a use for them.
Several cows were gathered in a valley below, huddled in a tight circle and pawing the ground nervously. Breakdown grinned and transformed into a car, punching the gas and rocketing down the slope straight towards the ring of bovines. He shifted back to robot mode in mid air and landed right before one of the startled creatures, bending down to scoop it up into his palm.
“Mission accomplished,” he said with a grin, backing off to go contact Soundwave.
Final Notes: Yay for cow based samples!
